Hi folks. Sorry I have been away so long. I got completely slammed with the school year starting up at Furman and the Fine Arts Center. Then I went out of town to the Savannah Jazz Fest, with a stop off in Atlanta (Peachtree City) to see my teacher, Ted, perform at the Georgia Shrimp House. Then straight back to Greenville for Dr. Matt Olson’s Faculty Concert, featuring my original compositions.
Then, Helene decided to grace us with her presence. I have never seen anything like it. I’m still without power or internet, but in a lot better shape than friends in North Carolina. I’m writing this from a friend’s office, which has power, and I’m linked to Hotspot on the phone. I may not be able to share videos, but hopefully at least some photos.
I also have some new videos to add to the Practical Piano - Basics series. I’ll split it all up into tow or three posts.
First, the Jazz Fest. This is me performing with the great sax player, Ed Calle. Also my old friend and brother, Quentin Baxter, on drums, and Marc Chesanow on bass, and Jody Espina, on alto sax.
I also performed with the Savannah Jazz Big Band, featuring vocalist John Dokes.
It was great to see old friends and to play at this great festival in one of my favorite places, my birthplace, Savannah, GA.
